Every year we travel to Philadelphia to have Thanksgiving with my family in the home where I grew up. It is a time for my four siblings and their families, along with close family friends to gather together and give collective thanks for the amazing life we all have.
My children love this event. They spend time with cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents around three tables set so beautifully by my mother in her own way. She runs the show. No one is allowed in the kitchen until dinner is served, and we all gasp when the turkey comes out. Tradition.
Another tradition is the annual post meal variety show, when all of the cousins band together, in their respective parent's childhood closets, and produce a show complete with skits, songs and repertoires just shy of Broadway! The talent runs deep.
Family time is the best time.
