It’s the Fifth of May and everyone knows what that means! Time for margarita’s and bright colors to kick off those winter blues! Now that it’s actually warm in the bluegrass we wanted to enjoy the weather as much as possible, so outside was a natural choice for this setting. Something just feels wrong about drinking an icy margarita indoors and your guests will certainly appreciate you thinking of that beforehand.
Setting the Table
Cinco De Mayo is all about celebration and festiveness; we wanted to use a mix of bright colors and bold patterns to really make each place setting pop. Mixing patterns can be a tricky thing to pull off, but concentrate on matching colors and shapes. The oranges and pinks of the raffia mats really make the blues and pinks of the tablecloth stand out. The roundness of the mats reflect the hanging lanterns on the tablecloth and the geometric curves continue in the fun glasses and flowers.
You always want to have texture on the table to give some distinction between place settings and the whole table. The natural raffia blends well with the organic wood silverware. We used simple limes as napkin holders that also lend to the organic feel of the table. Pop in bright flowers and the whole setting just feels fresh and light — a welcoming table for a relaxed event.
Melody of Refined Social Events made this elegant but naturally flowing arrangement. It looks like you picked everything from a field of wildflowers; the simple vase really emphasizes that colorful florals are the main event. In this arrangement, building out to give the square vase a little more oomph really works. Let the naturally long flowers do the work for you by utilizing their slender stems and using the weight of the buds to create depth.
We hope everyone has a delightful and cheery Cinco De Mayo!
