Exclusively hand block printed in India for Pomegranate by talented artisans

The ancient art of hand block printing textiles has been practiced in India for over 800 years. Highly skilled artisans carve wooden blocks to emulate our hand sketched artwork and color masters then mix the colors to match our plaettes. Each color pattern is then stamped repeatedly across the fabric meticulously attending to the details of each design. Between each stamped layer, each item is washed to set the dye. Once each layer has been stamped and washed, the textiles are hung to try in the Indian sun. The slight human irregularities — inevitable in handwork — create the artistic effect emblematic of block prints. Expect subtle color changes due to the nature of this hand crafting process.

One of the best outcomes of Covid-19 was collaborting with designer and fellow Bahamian style lover, India Hicks, on a limited collection of table linens under the India Hicks Home label. As Socrates once said, "The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new." While hunkered down on Harbour Island, as Covid-19 spread throughout the world , Pomegranate founder, Angela Beck approached her dear friend India with the idea of working together on a range of table linens. The first collection was launched in February 2021, almost selling out in the first 48 hours, and this latest blue and white story is just a tast of more to come down the line. Each India Hicks Collection is designed by India, drawn from inspiration from her life, and created by Pomegranate's extraordinary team of skilled artisans in India.
