Linen napkins are the gold standard for formal dining tables for a reason—there’s nothing quite like them to bring a touch of sophistication to the scene. But what to do with them? Well, when you add fabulous napkin rings into the mix, there are as many options as there are colors in the rainbow (note: we stock napkins in many of those colors of the rainbow!) We have a few ways we like to style napkins in rings, ranging from the traditional and standard to the fun and funky... Read on for our favorites and some unexpected combination inspiration.

The Serpent Coil

Particularly when using green napkins and green napkin rings, these feel like a setting straight out of the Garden of Eden! Start with the napkin folded in a square and tuck both sides back to create this simple look.

The Tassel Tizzy

We can’t get enough of the fun tassels on each of the four corners of these napkins, so we love to show them off. Pull them apart to make the most of the look!

Unexpected Color Combos

Just like a wild pair of earrings, napkin rings can be where you have some fun. We love combining colors that you normally wouldn’t think to combine—like a berry napkin with an orange-red napkin ring. Go wild!

Roll & Fold

A fun way to use your napkin rings a little differently (and useful for when your napkins aren’t as ironed as you’d like), this look requires laying out the napkins and folding them into a long, thin horizontal band. Then fold it in half, stick it in the ring and voila!

Tied Up With a Bow

The most involved way we like to use napkin rings takes an extra minute but is worth the effort! To achieve the look, fold the napkin in half diagonally. Fold the bottom corner over in half, then fold the top edge three times to meet the bottom edge. Fold the left side down at a 45 degree angle and fold the right side down at 45 degree angle to overlap the left. Slide a napkin ring to the middle and you’re done!

Fleur de Lis

Lend a bit of New Orleans to your table with these elegant napkins. Fold the napkin in half then bring both corners to the center to make a triangle. Fold the two top edges down to make a diamond. Finally, fold up and out the two edges to 90 degrees and pull the napkin ring up from the bottom to sit at the base of the fleur de lis.
